Introduction of Acne Scar Treatment with Coratherapy at a Korean Medicine Clinic

Hello, this is Doctor Ikdu Kim from Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic, Gasan-Geumcheon branch.
Acne scars are caused by the habit of picking or scratching acne with hands,
which damages the skin tissue and leaves scars during the healing process.
Particularly, narrow and deep scars like ice pick scars or wide and shallow scars like boxcar scars
can make the unevenness of the skin surface more noticeable, causing significant stress in terms of appearance.
Moreover, acne scars often involve deep skin damage, making them difficult to treat.
This particular patient had tried various treatments without significant results before visiting our clinic.
Through this post, I will provide detailed information about treating acne scars that were difficult to address with other procedures.

After the 3rd Coratherapy session (left side)
Case :: Acne scars from teenage and early twenties
History :: 8 sessions of Fraxel laser, multiple MTS treatments without results
Report :: 6 sessions of Coratherapy conducted
This patient developed acne scars
by repeatedly picking or scratching acne during their teenage years and early twenties.
They underwent 8 sessions of Fraxel laser and multiple MTS treatments
but did not achieve satisfactory results, leading them to visit Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic.
They learned about Coratherapy through a recommendation from an acquaintance and visited with high expectations.
The patient had a complex scar pattern, with boxcar scars on the side and ice pick scars on the front.
We prioritized addressing the unsatisfactory aspects of previous treatments
and planned to proceed with 6 sessions of Coratherapy to start the treatment.

After the 3rd session (right side)

This photo was taken after 3 sessions of Coratherapy.
You may not notice significant improvements, but slight elevation of the scars can be observed.
In particular, larger scars show noticeable elevation, and the outer cheek area improved faster than the inner cheek area.
By the end of the 3rd session, the patient expressed satisfaction, stating that the scars were filling in more than with previous treatments.

After the 6th session (right side)

This photo was taken after 6 sessions of Coratherapy.
Although redness remains as it has only been 2 weeks since the treatment,
the depth of the scars has improved, and there is almost no height difference compared to the surrounding normal skin.
Redness from Coratherapy usually subsides within 2 months,
after which the treated area blends more naturally with the surrounding skin,
giving a much smoother appearance.

Coratherapy at Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic treats skin affected by acne scars
by using needles to create conditions for the skin to regenerate itself, promoting new skin growth.
It has shown positive results even for patients who did not see improvements with Fraxel laser or MTS treatments.
Since the treatment can be customized according to each patient’s skin condition and scar type,
you can safely and satisfactorily restore healthy skin.
Don’t give up on treating difficult acne scars.
