Review of Coratherapy for Surgical Scar at Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic

Hello, this is Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic, the beginning of Coratherapy that removes scars.
Today, we will look into the case of a patient who visited us with a laceration caused by an animal, specifically a torn scar.
This patient is a woman in her 60s who, six weeks prior to her visit, sustained a deep wound on her forehead after being scratched by a large dog.
She visited a hospital where the wound was disinfected and sutured, resulting in a depressed scar.
The scar was approximately 5cm in length, deep, and long.
Even after some time had passed since the suturing, the depressed scar did not fill in, so she visited our clinic for recovery of the depressed area.

Case :: A 5cm-long deep and irregular depressed scar caused by an animal laceration and subsequent suturing

History :: Scratched on the forehead by a large dog 6 weeks ago
Depressed area did not fill in after suturing

Detail :: 8 sessions of Coratherapy were performed

The scar diagonally crossed the center of the forehead and was deep and irregular in shape.
The upper part of the scar was relatively shallow, while the middle and lower parts were noticeably deeper.
Since it was a scar caused by an animal scratch, it had an uneven and irregular shape with varying depths in different areas.
As the scar had formed six weeks prior, the scarred area appeared prominently red in contrast.

Due to the narrow and deep shape and irregularity of the scar, we anticipated an improvement of 80–90% with about 8 sessions of treatment.
If additional sessions were deemed necessary, we planned to proceed accordingly and began the treatment.

After 3 sessions of Coratherapy

This photo was taken during the 4th visit after completing 3 sessions of treatment.
In the frontal view, you can see that the depressed areas caused by the sutures and the irregularly scratched scar were treated according to their respective depths.
Compared to before the treatment, the boundaries have noticeably softened.

In the side view, it is evident that not only have the boundaries softened, but the depth of the scar has also significantly improved.

After 5 sessions of Coratherapy

This photo was taken during the 6th visit after completing 5 sessions of treatment.
Through six sessions, the upper part of the scar, which was relatively shallow, had significantly filled in, and the lower part also showed substantial improvement compared to the initial state.
Overall, the boundaries softened, and the depth improved, which greatly satisfied the patient at this stage.
The side view also clearly shows how much the scar has improved.
For the remaining 3 sessions (6th, 7th, and 8th), the goal was to fill in the remaining areas as much as possible with new skin.

After 8 sessions of Coratherapy

This photo was taken during a follow-up visit after completing 8 sessions of treatment.
Compared to before the treatment, there was a significant improvement.
Except for a faint line of about 0.5–1cm in the middle of the scar, the depth of other areas improved by more than 90%.

This case involved a scar caused by an animal laceration, which was sutured.
Despite being in her 60s, the patient achieved complete recovery through Coratherapy at Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic, which was noteworthy.

Lacerations refer to scars caused by torn skin.
Among them, animal lacerations are characterized by the risk of infection and irregular shapes and depths of the scars.

Additionally, scars after suturing often have small holes around the scarred area where the suturing thread was inserted.
These small “stitch holes” can make the scar appear even more irregular.

Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic’s Coratherapy provides customized treatment tailored to the shape of each scar.
Even small stitch marks from sutures can be filled through the treatment, making the scarred area less noticeable.

We hope today’s post helped alleviate some concerns about surgical scars.
