Comparison of Coratherapy and Subcision Differences!

Hello, this is Dr. Sangwoo Jung from Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic Hongdae Branch, specializing in scar removal.
Indented scars occur when skin tissue is damaged due to inflammatory acne, chickenpox, trauma, etc., and the regeneration process does not proceed smoothly.
If the dermis layer is damaged due to inflammation, the skin cannot regenerate properly,
collagen fibers are lost, and adhesion occurs, leaving indented scars.
Such indented scars are difficult to heal naturally,
and structural improvements must be achieved through medical treatment.
There are various methods, but today I would like to talk about the treatments
for indented scars, specifically Coratherapy and subcision.

Coratherapy and subcision, which are often mentioned in the treatment of indented scars, may seem similar,
but they have clear differences in their principles and application methods.
Both treatments are widely used for indented scars, especially acne scars or facial depressed scars,
but it is important to accurately understand their characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages.

First, Coratherapy is an approach based on Korean medicine,
using needles to provide micro-stimulation to the skin, breaking down the tissue accumulated under the scar,
and creating space. Depending on the shape and depth of the indented scar, it can provide stimulation in various directions and forms,
making it a significant advantage as it can be tailored to different types of scars.

Subcision, also known as dermal release, is a procedure typically performed in dermatology clinics,
aimed at cutting the fibers in the dermis layer to lift the skin.

To simply compare the two, subcision feels like breaking the scar with a baseball bat,
while Coratherapy is like using a thin sashimi knife to precisely target and break it.
Coratherapy is more detailed and precise in stimulating the scar,
and the subcision procedure is included within the treatment process of Coratherapy.

Additionally, Coratherapy individually breaks down the scar walls
while also cutting the adhesion beneath the scar,
helping it blend naturally with the surrounding healthy skin.

In conclusion, subcision improves indented scars by physically cutting the tissues pulling the scar downward,
whereas Coratherapy not only physically breaks the adhesion
but also utilizes the skin’s natural regenerative power to improve the scar.

Indented scars can affect not only your appearance but also your psychological well-being,
so it is important to choose the appropriate treatment method and receive treatment from experienced medical professionals.
