Foreign Patient Case of Postherpetic Scarring Treated with Coratherapy at Gangnam Korean Medicine Clinic

Hello, this is Doctor Jeong Dongbin from Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic in Gangnam.
Shingles is a condition that causes severe pain along with red rashes and blisters on the skin.
Even after treatment, scars often remain, especially on the face, and scars on the forehead are
particularly noticeable, causing psychological stress for many people.
Today, I would like to share the treatment case of a patient who was concerned about a shingles scar on their forehead.
This patient came to us all the way from Vietnam,
and their scar improved through Coratherapy.
In this post, we will take a closer look at the characteristics of shingles scars, treatment methods,
and the effects of Coratherapy.

After the 2nd Coratherapy session
Case :: Shingles scar on the forehead
History :: Received two sessions of dot peeling but saw no effect
Report :: Underwent six sessions of Coratherapy
The main character of this case is a foreign patient who was concerned about a shingles scar on their forehead.
They had received two sessions of dot peeling to improve the scar,
but since there were no noticeable results, they searched for a new treatment method.
They learned about Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic’s Coratherapy
and traveled all the way from Vietnam to South Korea.
Upon examining the patient’s scar, we found that it was relatively recent, so there was some possibility of natural recovery.
However, the scar was deep and had distinct edges,
making it unlikely to heal naturally over time.
We decided to proceed with six sessions of Coratherapy.

4th session

When the patient first visited, their scar had distinct edges,
some areas were raised, and other areas were deeply indented.
In such cases, it is crucial to carefully treat only the indented areas
to align the height of the surrounding normal skin with the raised and indented parts.
The patient expressed satisfaction starting from the second session,
and by the fourth session, they noticed that the scar had faded and
the texture of their skin had improved.

6th session

By the end of the sixth session, the patient showed significant improvement and expressed great satisfaction.
Most of the indented areas were greatly improved to the point where the scar was barely visible,
and the raised appearance of the scar had also disappeared.
Although one or two additional sessions could have further improved the slightly remaining indented scar on the right side,
the patient was already very satisfied with the results and decided to conclude the treatment.

Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic’s Coratherapy is a scar treatment method that began in 2006.
It involves using micro-needles on the scarred area to stimulate the skin’s natural regeneration.
This procedure promotes collagen production, helping the scarred area to fill in,
and improves skin texture, restoring it to a more natural appearance.
It is particularly effective for treating indented scars on the forehead,
which is a delicate and sensitive area with thin skin.
Customized treatment is possible based on the patient’s skin condition and the depth of the scar,
making it effective for cases like the one introduced today, where the scar has varying depths.
For deep shingles scars that could not be resolved with other treatments,
consistent care combined with the professional treatment at Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic
can now deliver satisfying results.
I hope today’s post has helped alleviate some concerns about indented shingles scars.
