Postherpetic scars can be treated even if there is redness. Case of scar treatment at a Korean Medicine Clinic in Cheonan.

Hello, this is Dr. Kwangil Paeng from Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic Cheonan branch.
Today’s case involves a patient who developed shingles on the left eyebrow area, which
resulted in a deep and prominent indented scar after the scab from the shingles fell off.
The patient mentioned that they had consulted a dermatologist before visiting our clinic.
They were told that the scar was too deep and the hair follicles in the eyebrow area were damaged beyond repair.
While searching for a solution, such as eyebrow transplantation to cover the scar,
the patient discovered our clinic and decided to visit us despite the long distance.
Let’s take a look at the case of treating an indented scar caused by shingles using Coratherapy.

After the 2nd Coratherapy session
Case :: Indented scar from shingles on the eyebrow
History :: Shingles developed a month ago,
resulting in a large lesion on the eyebrow.
The scab fell off, leaving an indented scar.
Report :: 6 sessions of Coratherapy conducted
The first 5 sessions of Coratherapy were conducted at intervals of approximately 2 to 4 weeks.
After about a year, the patient returned for the next session,
completing a total of 6 sessions over 1 year and 3 months.
After the 2nd session, the prominent and sharp edges of the scar became smoother and less pronounced.
The base of the scar also showed slight improvement, and
the upper part of the scar began to fill in, making the scar appear smaller.
The patient mentioned that they could feel the scar becoming less indented when touched.

After the 5th Coratherapy session
This photo was taken when the patient visited us about a year after completing the 5th session.
The redness had completely disappeared over time,
and the skin tone around the scar matched the surrounding skin.
The upper part of the scar also showed significant improvement in alignment with the surrounding skin.
The eyebrow area is naturally raised, making it challenging to perfectly align the height.
In this case, while the scar boundary was not completely eliminated,
there was an overall improvement of about 70-80%.
Considering the shape and depth of the scar, this level of regeneration is quite remarkable.

The patient also mentioned that the scar had faded significantly, and the eyebrow hair,
which seemed unlikely to grow back, had started to grow slightly.
They expressed great satisfaction, saying that the scar no longer bothered them in daily life.
Initially, they felt hopeless after being told by a dermatologist that there was no treatment available.
However, after consulting with us and undergoing treatment, they were very glad they made the decision to visit our clinic.
Indented scars from shingles can become deeper and wider if left untreated.
Delaying treatment can make the scars more permanent and harder to treat.
It is recommended to consult with a specialist as soon as possible after a scar forms
to develop an appropriate treatment plan.
We hope this post helps alleviate some of your concerns about indented scars.
