Scar from a nail scratch after Coratherapy treatment at Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic.

Hello, this is Dr. Ikdoo Kim from Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic, Gasan branch, specializing in scar removal.
Today, I would like to share the case of a patient who visited us for a childhood nail scar.
A woman in her 20s had a scar about 1.5 cm long under her left eye near the nose bridge caused by a nail scratch during childhood.
The scar was deep and long, accompanied by pigmentation, making it quite noticeable.

The patient had no prior treatment experience at other clinics
and found our clinic through an internet search.

Case :: Scar from a nail scratch 20 years ago

History :: A woman in her 20s with an old nail scar
that had an uneven surface

Report :: Despite the uneven surface of the scar,
the treatment was carefully performed with attention to detail,
and the patient was highly satisfied with the results.

The scar was an elongated oval shape located under the left eye near the nose bridge.
The boundaries were clear, and the pigmentation in the area made the scar
stand out in contrast to the surrounding skin.

When viewed from the side, the depth and shape of the scar were more apparent.
The scar was deep, and the surface was uneven.

Since the scar was located in an area with thin skin,
unlike thicker and more elastic dermis found in areas like the cheeks,
it was expected that more treatment sessions would be needed despite the favorable scar shape for skin regeneration.

We anticipated complete recovery after approximately 10 sessions and began the treatment.

After 3 sessions of Coratherapy (front view)

This photo was taken during the 4th visit after completing 3 treatment sessions.

In the front view, you can see that the treated area still shows some redness,
making the scar appear slightly more noticeable compared to before.

After 3 sessions of Coratherapy (side view)

In the side view, you can observe significant improvement in the depth of the scar after 3 sessions,
and the patient also noticed the improvement in depth.

The patient, who usually does not wear makeup,
was concerned about the redness remaining in the treated area.
However, we assured her that the redness would completely fade within 4–5 weeks after the treatment,
and we proceeded with the remaining sessions.

After 7 sessions of Coratherapy (front view)

This photo was taken during the 8th visit after completing 7 treatment sessions.
In the front view, you can see that the boundaries of the scar have significantly faded after 7 sessions.
Notably, the lower, wider part of the scar shows a significant reduction in its boundary.

In the side view, the depth of the scar has greatly improved,
and the surrounding skin has become more even in height.

These photos were taken during the follow-up visit after 10 treatment sessions.

During the 10th session, we also performed a procedure to smooth out the uneven skin surface,
and there was a 4-week interval between the treatment and the follow-up visit.

The redness has faded significantly, and the scar area has fully regenerated,
eliminating the boundaries with the surrounding skin and achieving a smooth surface.
The remaining redness is expected to disappear completely within 2 weeks,
and the patient was very satisfied with the results, concluding the treatment.

This case is notable for the recovery of a 20-year-old, uneven scar
through Coratherapy at Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic.

Coratherapy does not damage the epidermis on the surface of the scar
but instead regenerates the skin from the dermis layer beneath.
Once the skin fully regenerates, the scar surface rises as well,
eliminating concerns about irregular surfaces remaining.

At Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic, we provide customized treatments
tailored to the shape of each scar and accompany them with surface-smoothing procedures
to ensure the treated area blends seamlessly with the surrounding skin.

I hope today’s post helps alleviate some concerns about scars.
