Severe Acne Scar Coratherapy Treatment Review at Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic

Hello, this is Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic, the beginning of Coratherapy for scar removal.
Acne on both cheeks, if not managed early, can spread to cover the entire cheek.
Severe acne like this is also highly likely to leave scars.
Acne scars are not just a problem limited to the surface of the skin but can damage the skin layer itself,
leaving depressed scars that make the cheeks appear uneven.
For the treatment of severe depressed acne scars, Coratherapy is often chosen in Korean medicine.
In today’s post, we will explain why Coratherapy is effective for severe acne scars
by showing you an actual case study.

What is Coratherapy?

First, let us explain what kind of treatment Coratherapy is
and why it is effective for treating depressed acne scars.
Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic’s Coratherapy is a Korean medicine scar treatment
that began in 2006 to promote skin regeneration.
It works by breaking down the adhered tissues under the skin to create space
for new skin to naturally grow and guiding regenerative substances to fill the created space, thereby regenerating the skin.
Because it treats depressed scars through the skin’s regenerative power, it has the advantage of
being effective for all types of depressed scars.
Additionally, Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic’s Coratherapy uses a specially designed L-shaped incision needle
instead of a simple straight needle.
This allows not only the release of adhesions but also a sculpting approach
that effectively breaks down scar walls and lifts the scar base.
As a result, even scars that did not respond to other treatments
can often be improved through Coratherapy.
The case we will explain below involves a patient who had undergone other treatments but did not see results
and visited Rodam for help.
We will explain in more detail using actual treatment photos.

Case :: Severe Depressed Acne Scars

History :: 5 sessions each of Fraxel and Subcision

Report :: 12 sessions of Coratherapy

This case involves a patient with distinct and deep acne scars on both cheeks.
The patient had already undergone 5 sessions each of Fraxel and Subcision treatments,
but only experienced about 10% improvement and was not satisfied with the results before visiting Rodam.
When acne scars are widely and deeply distributed on both cheeks,
treatments that only stimulate the surface have limitations.
It is essential to first improve the height of the scars and then release the tightly adhered tissues
around the scar edges.
Considering this, Rodam planned a total of 12 sessions of Coratherapy for this patient.
In the initial phase, the focus was on lifting the scar base,
and in the later phase, the focus shifted to releasing the scar walls.

In the photo taken after the 10th session,
you can see that the scar base has risen significantly compared to the 3rd session.
However, the scar walls have not been completely broken down yet,
so there is still a visible boundary between the scars and the normal skin.
Thus, the remaining 2 sessions focused on breaking down the scar walls
and refining the texture.

Here is the final result after completing all 12 sessions.
The overall skin texture on both cheeks has improved,
and the deep depressed scars that remained were intensively treated,
breaking down the scar walls and eliminating the uneven appearance of the scars.
Although there are still some scars that could be further improved,
the results were satisfactory compared to the initial state,
and the patient was pleased with the outcome, so the treatment was concluded.

As shown in this case, when treating depressed scars, it is crucial to plan customized treatments
based on the shape and depth of the scars.
Standardized treatments have limitations,
so it is essential to approach each patient’s skin condition and scar characteristics individually.
Even treatments with the same name can yield different results depending on where they are performed.

At Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic, as demonstrated in the above case,
we set specific goals for the initial and later phases of treatment and carefully study
what type of stimulation is needed for each area during the treatment process.
If you are feeling discouraged because other treatments have not been effective,
please visit Rodam.
We will help resolve your concerns about scars.
