Hello, this is Dr. Ikdoo Kim from Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic, Gasan Branch, specializing in scar removal.
Today, I would like to introduce a case of a woman in her 30s with long-standing acne scars.
She experienced severe acne during her teens and early 20s,
and due to picking and scratching her acne, many scars were formed.
She had undergone 8 sessions of Fraxel laser treatment and MTS but did not see any improvement.
She visited our clinic upon the recommendation of an acquaintance,
who had successfully treated her scars here.
Because she had seen the positive results from her acquaintance, she had high expectations for the treatment.

The patient had multiple ice-pick scars,
which appeared slightly stretched along the skin lines.
On the outer side of her cheeks, there were some larger boxcar scars,
while the front part of her cheeks showed torn ice-pick scars due to the skin texture.
In cases like this, boxcar scars on the outer cheeks tend to heal faster than
the torn ice-pick scars on the front cheeks.
I explained to the patient that there might be a difference in the recovery speed
between the inner and outer parts of her cheeks.
Additionally, since she had excessive sebum secretion, increasing the risk of inflammation,
we performed the procedure in a way that minimized stimulation to the sebaceous glands.
This patient completed her treatment in a total of 6 sessions.
Case :: Cheek Acne Scars (Ice-pick, Boxcar)
History :: Acne scars caused by picking and scratching acne
that appeared during her teens and early 20s
Detail :: Despite no results from Fraxel laser and MTS,
she experienced significant improvement after 6 sessions of Coratherapy

3rd Session (Right Side)

After 3 sessions of Coratherapy
This is the appearance after the 3rd session.
Looking at the right cheek, you can first notice the redness
as this photo was taken right after the procedure.
When examining the scars individually,
you can see that the height of some larger scars has improved,
but the overall improvement may not yet be noticeable.
3rd Session (Left Side)

After 3 sessions of Coratherapy
When viewed from the side, the outer cheek appears to have improved faster
than the inner cheek, as expected.
In the front part of the cheek, some scars also show an increase in height.
This is the left cheek in the frontal view.
Boxcar scars, compared to torn ice-pick scars,
clearly show faster improvement.
Particularly, the three large boxcar scars under the eye
have noticeably improved in height.
However, further improvement in height and reduction of ice-pick scars is still needed.

6th Session (Left Side_Front)

6th Session (Right Side_Side View)

After 6 sessions of Coratherapy
These are the photos after the 6th session.
The outer cheek has almost reached the same level as the surrounding skin.
For the inner cheek, most scars, except for three, have also improved in height.
The left cheek still shows some redness from the procedure,
but the height of most scars has improved.
Although a few torn ice-pick scars remain near the nasolabial fold,
most scars have improved.
In the side view, the improvement in height is more noticeable.
Most scars have risen compared to before the procedure,
and their edges have become blurred.
Once the redness subsides, the skin will appear much smoother.

This was a case where the patient, who had high expectations, achieved great satisfaction.
