What is Coratherapy? Everything about its principles, downtime, reviews, and prices.
Hello, this is Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic, the beginning of Coratherapy for scar removal.
Many people visit Coratherapy for the treatment of acne scars, but compared to other procedures, not many are familiar with the detailed information.
In particular, people are curious about the principles of Coratherapy and its downtime.
Today, we aim to provide all the information about Coratherapy, including its principles, downtime, reviews, and pricing.

What is Coratherapy? The Principles of Coratherapy

Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic’s Coratherapy began in 2006 as a treatment for acne scars.
It activates the skin’s natural regenerative power to encourage new skin growth.
The principles and process of Coratherapy are as follows.
STEP. 01
Coratherapy delicately breaks the fibrous tissues that create the acne scars,
which are adhesions pulling the skin downward.
This process creates a ‘space for new skin to grow’ under the scar.
As the force pulling the skin downward is released,
conditions are created for the skin to rise upward.
STEP.02
In the space created by Coratherapy, blood supply naturally increases,
and cells and growth factors necessary for skin regeneration gather.
This activates fibroblasts, leading to the production of new skin tissues such as collagen and elastin.
STEP.03
Through this process, the newly grown tissue fills the depressed areas,
and as the keratin layer repeatedly sheds, the height of the scar gradually matches the normal skin.
Coratherapy allows for precise adjustment of the treatment area and intensity depending on the shape and depth of the scar.
It can be tailored to various types of acne scars, such as boxcar, ice pick, and rolling scars.
In cases where the scar boundaries are distinct, new skin can grow more effectively.
Thanks to the practitioner’s expertise, the treatment can focus solely on the scar area,
minimizing unnecessary irritation to the surrounding normal skin.
In particular, Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic uses a specially designed ‘incision needle’ during Coratherapy.
This incision needle, bent into an ‘L’ shape, cuts the fibrous tissues adhered to the epidermis and subcutaneous tissues under the scar.
Rather than simply piercing, a cross-needling technique is used, involving rotational and intersecting stimulation.
This allows for customized treatment based on the type, length, width, depth, and regenerative ability of the skin.
It is effective for treating the following types of acne scars:

- Acne scars
: Effective for various types of acne scars such as ice pick, boxcar, and round scars - Chickenpox/Shingles scars
: Treatable even for long-standing chickenpox scars (over 20 years) and adult shingles scars (40 years and older) - Other depressed scars
: Suitable for scars caused by mole removal, nail scratches, surgery, and cosmetic procedures

Coratherapy Downtime

Coratherapy involves checking the downtime for three reactions: recovery time, swelling, and redness.
First, regarding recovery time, you can return to daily activities immediately after the procedure,
but cleansing and makeup are recommended from the next day.
For swelling, the downtime is about 2–3 days.
The swelling caused by needle stimulation subsides quickly,
and you can observe the process of new skin growth after this period.
As for redness, although it varies from person to person,
it is usually most noticeable for 3–4 days and gradually fades after 7 days.
In some cases, it may persist for more than two weeks, but it is not permanent and will disappear over time.

Coratherapy Reviews

Looking at reviews of Coratherapy, the treatment focuses solely on the scar area without affecting the surrounding normal skin.
After the procedure, it becomes difficult to identify where the scar was due to the natural recovery of the depressed area.
Coratherapy is particularly effective because it untangles the collagen tangled within the scar
and encourages the growth of new skin.
Once the skin is regenerated, it rarely sinks back, which is another advantage of this treatment.

Coratherapy Pricing
Coratherapy is a personalized treatment, so it is difficult to provide a fixed price.
Generally, the cost of scar treatment varies depending on the number of scars and the area affected.
The basic price for Coratherapy starts at 100,000 KRW for a 5mm scar,
but the cost may vary depending on the scar.
